Elections To Will Be Held In 2013

Nairobi/ 13th January 2012 – The eagerly awaited ruling on when Kenyans will go for the next elections under the new constitution has finally delivered its ruling Friday afternoon.

In their ruling, the three-judge bench in the constitutional court ruled that elections can be held within 60 days after the term of the current Parliament expires, which is January 15, 2013.

The judges further said that the next polls will be held in 2013, unless the Grand Coalition government collapses this year.

This means should the coalition collapses or a decision is made to dissolve it, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission will also set an election date within a 60-day period.
