Psst… Whisper This To A Man Next To You

Nairobi, September 12th 2011 – The United Nations Secretary-General’s UNiTE to End Violence against Women campaign has launched a T-shirt design competition for young men.

Those from 18 to 25 years old, from anywhere in the world, are invited to participate.

Participants can let their imaginations run free by creating designs that Say NO to violence against women and girls, and embody equality and respect.

“We want to reach out directly to young men worldwide as a part of the solution to ending violence against women and girls,” says campaign manager Aldijana Sisic. “We are asking them to think about what their world would look like without violence against women, and to join us as part of a new generation of UNiTE activists and leaders.”

Thirty-four regional and global judges will select the five best designs—one each from Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and North America. Public voters on the contest website will chose an additional winner.

The UNiTE campaign will bring all six prize winners to New York, USA to participate in the UN official observance of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 22 November 2011.

For more information or to participate, please visit the competition website: http://unitetshirtcompetition.org/. Check out the site’s list of six things you can do to stop violence.
