Nairobi, Kenya – September 1st 2011Due to an unforeseen and unavoidable situation, namely, the current teachers strike, the KGGA Family Fun day that was to be held this Saturday 10th September,2011 has been cancelled till further notice.

As you may be aware, majority of the active guide units are from the public schools(both high school and Primary) whose school activities have now been paralysed by the strike.

We regret any inconvenience caused by this cancellation. The new date for the fun day will be set once the teachers situation stabilises.

The Kenya Girl Guides Association (KGGA) will hold its inaugural Family Fun Day on the 10th September 2011 at the Impala Club Grounds on Ngong Road from 10:00am to 5:00pm.

The fun day to be officiated by Kenya Girl Guides Association National Chairman Mrs. Susan Mudhune will serve as an opportunity for the entire guiding fraternity to interact while celebrating one hundred years and KGGA will also officially launch the new uniform and showcase various talents amongst Girl Guides.

The Family Fun day is expected to attract all members of the different stages of the guiding fraternity from those as young as 4 years (Rainbows) to those above 80 years (Trefoil Guild Kenya).

The event will include a host of activities such as interactive mentor sessions for rangers, fashion shows, bouncing castles, clowns, live music and a special appearance from the hilarious Eric Omondi.

The Kenya Girl Guide Association (KGGA) is a member organization of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). KGGA is registered by an Act of Parliament (CAP 220 of the laws of Kenya) and operates through a value based program and has a national membership of over 155, 000 girls representing every race, ethnicity, culture, class and religion in Kenya.

KGGA’s mission statement is “To provide opportunity for girls and young women to develop their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world”
