Depressing Cases of Young Girls Defiled

A 10 year old girl is fighting for her life at Mariakani district hospital after being raped by a man who is still at large.

Speaking to KNA at the hospital this morning, the mother of the standard six girl, Ms Shunny Athman, said that she sent her daughter to Mazeras shopping centre on Tuesday last week to buy milk at about four but by five o’clock she had not returned.

She said that as she was just about to go to look for her, somebody called her to report to the Mazeras Administration police post only to find her daughter bleeding profusely and her clothes socked in blood.

Ms Athman further narrated that she was told by the administration police men to take her child to hospital which she did by taking her to Mariakani district hospital where the child, who is still in shock, is currently admitted.

She later reported the matter to the police who are still looking for the rapist.

Confirming the incident on phone, the Kilifi OCPD, Mr. Clement Wangai, said that the girl was brought to the post by members of the public who found her by a nearby bush crying for help.

Wangai lamented that cases of defilement were on the increase in the Kilifi County and appealed to wananchi to assist his officers in arresting the culprit who, it is claimed, is known by the locals around.

The police officer noted that it was the duty of everybody to protect the girl-child from these human beasts.
