Conjestina Comeback?

Siaya    March, 21  2011 – Boxing queen, Conjestina Achieng is set to re-launch her come back to the ring in Siaya on April 23rd, 2011, officials of the newly formed Siaya County Amateur Boxing Association says.

The officials, led by Chairman Stephen Otieno Obewo said that the tournament will feature pugilists from within and outside the country and will be the first major event to be hosted by the newly formed branch of the Amateur Boxing Association.

“Conjestina has accepted to re-launch her come back in Siaya” said Obewo adding that the event will be held in a Siaya hotel.

He however did not name Conjestina’s opponent.

This will be the first time that Conjestina will enter the ring after suffering an illness that saw her admitted in hospital.

Obewo was speaking to the media after the elections of the newly formed branch that covers six districts of Ugenya, ugunja, Gem, Rarieda, Bondo and Siaya.  Obewo was elected the chairman of the Siaya County Amateur Boxing Association.

“Siaya County has produced many great boxers and we want to honour them by encouraging the development of the game” said Obewo adding that boxing greats such as Conjestina, Demosh Omondi, the late Stephen Moi, Ojow Mamba and Sande Otieno among others all trace their roots to the county.
